A journal that stays yours.
yourkive is a private, local-first journal. Your entries live on your device as plain Markdown — no account needed, no server holding your words. Sync to your own cloud, and let automations quietly enrich each day.
No sign-up to write. Runs right in your browser and works offline — or install it to your home screen if you like. You don’t have to.
Most journaling apps keep your life on their servers. yourkive keeps it on yours — and still does the clever things.
Entries never touch our servers. You don’t need an account to write, and there’s nothing of yours for us to lose — your journal is a folder of files on your device. Nothing leaves it unless you switch something on. Add at-rest encryption and an app lock for a second layer.
Automations fold in weather, workouts and “on this day” — context you’d never log by hand, attached to the moment it happened.
Plain Markdown files, synced to your own Google Drive. Export everything, anytime. No lock-in, no “please don’t leave” dark patterns.
Link entries with [[…]]. yourkive tracks backlinks, so your archive quietly connects itself over time.
Turn on an automation and each new entry can pull in the weather where you were, the workout you just finished, or what happened on this day in history — automatically, and only when you want it. Your entries stay on your device: an automation sends only the small thing it needs to ask a question — coordinates and a date for weather, a month and day for “on this day” — through a helper that answers and stores nothing. Each one tells you exactly what it shares before you add it. This is just the start — more automations are in active development.
Everything you need to write, search, sync and own a private journal is free, and stays free. An Automations account is for when you want Yourkive to do more of the work — the connected services, and the hosted helpers that cost us money to run.
Keeping a private journal is free — and always will be.
The connected parts — and what keeps them running.
One price, billed yearly, no trial — you can use the free tier as long as you like first. Automations opens for purchase shortly; the free tier is live today.
Free is not a trial. It is the whole journal — unlimited entries, search, links, attachments, encryption, sync to your own Drive, and export — with no time limit and no nag screen.
Open yourkive, write one line, and see how it feels to own your words.
